Getting started
What services do you offer, and who performs them?
Celtic Lasers offers laser hair removal; laser treatments for unwanted pigmentation, redness, and certain vascular concerns; microneedling; and red light therapy. Laser and microneedling services are performed by a professionally trained and certified laser professional with more than 23 years of experience in dermatology and aesthetics. Customized facials and professional skincare services are performed by our licensed esthetician.
Do I need a consultation before treatment?
Yes. Your consultation allows us to evaluate your skin, review your medical history and medications, discuss your concerns, and determine whether treatment is appropriate for you. It also gives you an opportunity to ask questions and receive a customized treatment plan.
How do I know which treatment is right for my skin concerns?
You do not have to know which service to book. During your consultation, we will evaluate your skin, discuss your goals, and explain which treatment — or combination of treatments — is most appropriate. If your concern is outside our scope, we will recommend evaluation by an appropriate medical provider.
How much do treatments cost, and who may need to postpone treatment?
Pricing depends on the service, treatment area, and recommended treatment plan. Packages may be available for services requiring a series. Treatment may need to be postponed because of pregnancy, active infection, open wounds, recent tanning, certain medications, recent procedures, or specific health conditions. A complete medical history and medication list are required, and medical clearance may occasionally be requested before treatment.
Laser hair removal
Is laser hair removal permanent, and how many treatments will I need?
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction rather than a guarantee that every hair will be permanently removed. Most patients need approximately eight to 12 treatments, followed by occasional maintenance treatments. The number needed varies based on the area, hair color and thickness, skin type, hormones, treatment consistency, and individual response.
How often are laser hair removal treatments scheduled?
Appointments are typically scheduled about four to eight weeks apart, depending on the area being treated and its natural hair-growth cycle. Facial areas may be treated more frequently than body areas. Your provider will recommend the best schedule for you.
How should I prepare for laser hair removal?
Shave the area approximately 12–24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, pluck, thread, or use a chemical hair remover or an epilator for at least two to four weeks beforehand because the hair follicle must be present for the laser to target it. Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure for at least two to four weeks and immediately after, and disclose all medications, supplements, and skincare products. These precautions help reduce the risk of burns, discoloration, or other unwanted skin reactions.
Can all skin tones and hair colors be treated?
The Elite iQ Pro combines Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm technology, allowing us to treat a broad range of skin tones when clinically appropriate. However, laser hair removal works best on hair containing darker pigment. Blonde, red, gray, and white hair may respond poorly or may not be treatable because it contains very little pigment for the laser to target.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a quick snap, pinch, or brief burst of heat. The Elite iQ Pro works with advanced cooling technology to help protect the skin and make treatment more comfortable.
What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?
Common areas include the face, neck, underarms, arms, hands, chest, back, bikini area, Brazilian area, and legs. The external ears, hairline, and other appropriate external areas may also be treated after evaluation. Laser treatment is not performed inside the nostrils, over the eyes, or on other unsafe areas.
Can I shave between laser hair removal appointments?
Yes. Shaving is the preferred way to manage hair between treatments. Do not wax, pluck, thread, or use an epilator two weeks before your treatment because these methods remove the follicle the laser needs to target.
When will I begin seeing results from laser hair removal?
Many patients notice slower growth and shedding within three weeks after treatment. Results become more noticeable as the treatment series progresses. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are required to target follicles during their active growth phase.
Can I receive laser treatment if I have a tan?
Recent tanning — including sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner — can interfere with treatment and increase the risk of burns or unwanted pigmentation changes. Please tell us about any recent tanning before your appointment. Your treatment may need to be postponed for your safety.
Skin rejuvenation
What concerns can skin-rejuvenation laser treatments address?
Depending on your skin type and treatment plan, the Elite iQ Pro may improve the appearance of sun damage, brown spots, uneven pigmentation, facial redness, and certain visible vessels. A consultation is required because not every spot, vessel, or skin condition is appropriate for laser treatment.
How are IPL, BBL, and skin rejuvenation with the Elite iQ Pro different?
IPL uses broad-spectrum light containing multiple wavelengths to address concerns such as sun damage, brown spots, redness, and uneven tone. BBL is a branded form of intense pulsed-light technology. The Elite iQ Pro is a true laser platform that uses two specific wavelengths: Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm. These wavelengths allow us to target selected pigment, visible vessels, redness, or unwanted hair with treatment settings customized to the patient. Although these technologies can address some similar concerns, they deliver light differently. We will evaluate your skin and goals to determine whether an Elite iQ Pro treatment is appropriate for you.
Is there downtime, and what should I avoid after laser treatment?
Downtime varies according to the treatment performed. Temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling, or darkening of treated pigment may occur. Avoid unnecessary heat, friction, irritating skincare products, and sun exposure before and after as directed. Wear sunscreen and follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your technician.
Microneedling
What does microneedling help improve?
Microneedling may improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and overall skin quality by stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process. A series of treatments is often recommended for the best results.
How should I prepare for microneedling?
Avoid excessive sun exposure and discontinue retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, and other irritating products as instructed before treatment. Tell us about all medications, recent procedures, active breakouts, cold sores, or skin infections. Personalized preparation instructions will be provided before your appointment. This may include arriving 30 minutes early to have topical numbing applied to the treatment area, or instructions on how to apply it at home.
Facials and skincare
What type of facial should I book?
Our licensed esthetician can assess your skin and recommend a facial based on your skin type, concerns, current products, and goals. If you are unsure what to select, book a consultation or customized facial and allow the esthetician to guide you.
Can I schedule a facial, microneedling, and laser treatment close together?
Possibly, but some services should be separated to protect the skin and allow proper healing. Safe timing depends on the treatments performed, your skin condition, products or medications being used, and how your skin responds. Please disclose all recent and upcoming treatments so we can help coordinate an appropriate schedule.
Red light therapy
What is red light therapy, and what are its benefits?
Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light (550 nm, 650 nm, 800 nm) to support the skin’s natural healing process. It energizes cells, prompting them to perform their normal functions. It may help calm inflammation, reduce temporary redness, and support overall skin wellness. It may be recommended as a standalone service or as an add-on to another treatment when appropriate.
Still not sure?
You do not need to work out which treatment you need before you get in touch — that is what the consultation is for. If your question is not answered above, ask it directly. Office hours are Monday to Thursday 9am–4pm, Friday 9am–2pm (Central) — call, or leave your details and we will come back to you.
If your concern turns out to be outside what this practice can treat, you will be told that and pointed toward an appropriate medical provider instead.
