Microneedling in Baton Rouge

Microneedling improves skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores and acne scarring by stimulating the skin’s own renewal process. Here is what it realistically changes, how to prepare for it properly, and why it is recommended as a series.

Celtic Lasers is not open yet and is not performing treatments. We are collecting early consultation requests ahead of opening in fall 2026.

What microneedling actually does

Microneedling creates a controlled pattern of very fine channels in the skin. The skin responds to that controlled injury the way it responds to any injury — by repairing itself — and that repair process is the treatment. Nothing is added to your skin that produces the result; your own renewal process does the work.

That is why the effects build gradually rather than appearing the next morning, and why a series of treatments is often recommended for the best results rather than a single appointment.

What it may improve

Microneedling may improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring and overall skin quality. It works on the structure and surface quality of skin rather than on pigment or redness, which is the useful dividing line between this treatment and laser skin rejuvenation.

If your main complaint is brown spots, facial redness or visible vessels, microneedling is probably not the treatment you are looking for. If your complaint is that your skin feels rough, looks tired, holds the marks of old breakouts, or has pores and fine lines you have started noticing, it is worth asking about.

Note the word may. Response varies between people, and anyone quoting you a guaranteed percentage improvement is inventing a number.

How to prepare

Avoid excessive sun exposure, and discontinue retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and other irritating products as instructed before treatment. Skin that is already irritated does not respond well to being deliberately irritated, and the point of the preparation window is to start from a calm baseline.

Tell us about all medications, recent procedures, active breakouts, cold sores or skin infections. Cold sores in particular matter: a history of them changes how and whether an area around the mouth is treated.

Personalized preparation instructions will be provided before your appointment. These may include arriving 30 minutes early so that topical numbing can be applied to the treatment area, or instructions on how to apply it at home before you travel. Either way, allow for that time — numbing that has not had long enough to work is the single most common reason a microneedling appointment is less comfortable than it should be.

What the appointment is like

After numbing, the treatment itself is methodical and unhurried. Sensation varies by area; bony areas such as the forehead and jawline are generally felt more than the cheeks. You are not expected to endure it silently — comfort is checked throughout, and settings are adjusted.

Downtime and aftercare

Downtime varies according to the treatment performed. Temporary redness, warmth and mild swelling are normal, and most people describe the first day as looking and feeling similar to mild sunburn.

Afterwards, avoid unnecessary heat, friction, irritating skincare products and sun exposure as directed. Wear sunscreen, and follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your technician — freshly treated skin is more vulnerable to the sun than usual, and Louisiana sun is not forgiving. Do not resume retinoids or acids until you are told it is safe to.

How a series is structured

Because the result comes from a repair process that takes time, treatments are spaced to let that process run and then build on it. A series is usually recommended, with the number and spacing set after your skin has been assessed rather than sold to you as a fixed package up front.

Microneedling is not priced on this site for exactly that reason — the plan comes before the number. What is published, in full, is the laser hair removal price list, where the price genuinely is fixed by area.

Combining microneedling with other treatments

Microneedling, facials and laser treatments can sometimes be scheduled close together and sometimes need separating, to protect the skin and allow proper healing. Safe timing depends on which treatments are involved, your skin condition, the products or medications you are using, and how your skin responds.

Disclose all recent and upcoming treatments, including anything booked elsewhere. A practice that does not know you had a peel last week cannot protect you from the consequences of one.

What microneedling will not do

It will not tighten significant laxity, will not replace a surgical result, and will not remove deep scarring entirely — improvement in the appearance of scarring is a realistic goal, erasure is not. It does not treat pigmentation or redness, and it is not a substitute for a professional skincare routine.

If your goal turns out to be better served by professional skincare and facials, red light therapy or laser, you will be told that at the consultation. And if your concern is outside what this practice can treat, we will recommend evaluation by an appropriate medical provider instead.

Common questions

What does microneedling help improve?

Microneedling may improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and overall skin quality by stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process. A series of treatments is often recommended for the best results.

How should I prepare for microneedling?

Avoid excessive sun exposure and discontinue retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, and other irritating products as instructed before treatment. Tell us about all medications, recent procedures, active breakouts, cold sores, or skin infections. Personalized preparation instructions will be provided before your appointment. This may include arriving 30 minutes early to have topical numbing applied to the treatment area, or instructions on how to apply it at home.

Can I schedule a facial, microneedling, and laser treatment close together?

Possibly, but some services should be separated to protect the skin and allow proper healing. Safe timing depends on the treatments performed, your skin condition, products or medications being used, and how your skin responds. Please disclose all recent and upcoming treatments so we can help coordinate an appropriate schedule.

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes. Your consultation allows us to evaluate your skin, review your medical history and medications, discuss your concerns, and determine whether treatment is appropriate for you. It also gives you an opportunity to ask questions and receive a customized treatment plan.
